KIPS BAY DESIGNER SHOW HOUSE 2017

THE 45TH ANNUAL SHOW
It's that time of year once again for the doors to another Kips Bay Show House to open up on the upper east side, this year at 125 East 65th Street. This year's group of designers comes from an array of diverse design backgrounds from architects to kitchen developers to landscape designers to furniture designers. There are well-established designer to neophytes and designers with a long history of participating in the Show House to a slew of newcomers.
Having done the show once before my kudos go out to anyone willing to take on the challenge of participating in this Show House or any Show House for that matter. Since participation is based on being asked to participate by the board or by qualifying through submitting a portfolio judged by peers once you are asked to be one of the selected designers it's almost impossible to refuse.  The cost of participation is financially extremely high and has to be balanced off the rewards of press acknowledgement and prestige. Taking on the task of getting a room built demands my respect no matter what I might think of the design.
So without much editorializing here are some of this year's class of participants
