THE HOLIDAYS IN NEW YORK CITY - PART ONE

A PHOTO ESSAY PART ONE
The holidays in New York always seem to bring out the best of the city. Everyone seems a little more courteous, a little more generous and a whole lot happier. It's the only time in the city that you look forward to a little bit of snow. Since our daughter was born we've bundled up each holiday season and toured the windows of department stores like Macy's and Lord & Taylor. We've watched the skaters in Rockefeller Center and Bryant Park. We've trolled the holiday markets in Union Square and at Grand Central. We've sipped hot chocolate at City Bakery and grabbed a cup of grog at the Lodge at Gallow Green
Each year the city seems to outdo itself with lights and imagination and as citizens of the city we put on our best and most outrageous holiday attire. I'm breaking up my holiday blog into two posts; one to focus on the city and the second to show off the display windows that tickle the imagination
So here's to New York:

This is the week before we leave for an extended trip to Europe to experience what it's like to enjoy the holiday and ring in the New Year from the perspective of Italy, the Netherlands and France. I'll be blogging the trip to share the adventure. Can't wait even knowing that anticipation is almost as exciting as the experience itself.
