NEW YORK'S 2017 EASTER PARADE

THEY PUT ON THEIR EASTER BONNET WITH ALL THE FRILLS UPON IT
This year Easter Sunday fell on the day after tax day. Easter is the day Lent comes to an end and those who have abstained from something they love are now set free to indulge in whatever sin they’ve been avoiding. Nothing could have been more visibly truer than what was on display cramming Fifth Avenue for the blocks stretching out both North and South of St. Patrick’s Cathedral. I can only imagine what Cardinal Dolan might think of the flock of revelers out in front of his house of the Lord had he peered out from one of the turrets and surveyed the crowd below. I’m hoping he has a sense of humor about it since it was bringing smiles across the faces of old and young and some animals too. It was a veritable photographic candy store for anyone with an iPhone or an exploding Samsung. The weather was perfect. It was three hours of just plain joy walking back-and-forth on the traffic free avenue snapping pics of the costumed crowd with some of the most inventive hats to be seen anywhere outside of Dr. Seuss’ “ The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins ”. Lets hope these pictures can put the same smile on your face as they did on mine.
